Happy 2025!

We are looking forward to a great year. Please read through the entirety of this newsletter to stay up to date on upcoming meets, volunteer opportunities, team pictures and activities, and spring and summer programming. Newsletters/emails are always posted under “News” on the team website so you can find past information.  Make sure you are signed up to swim at the next few meets - especially our Home Meet, the EPSC Winter Classic on January 26th.

Parent Committee Meetings

  • Wednesday 1/8 and Thursday 1/9

  • Time to get ready for the January 26 Home Meet! FAST and VSTP are joining us on this meet which means we have some fun competition and a great opportunity to raise funds for our team. 

  • Good news - volunteer hours/points are too much work for me to track, so there are no more points requirements! There IS however, the requirement to stay involved and help out as much as you can. The more people picking up different jobs, the better the team runs, the more fun it is for the kids, and the more the coaches can focus on great training for all swimmers. Come to the meeting to see how you can help out, as well as make suggestions of what we can all do to finish up the season strong.

 

Team Pictures

  • Thursday, January 23, 2025 Individuals starting at 6:00 p.m, Team Picture 6:45 lineup

  • We need EVERYONE, competitive and non-competitive, to be there in their suits for these pictures. Individual/family/small group pictures are optional, but participation in the team picture is required. 

 

Sponsorships

  • Sponsorships from families and local businesses have been one of our most successful fundraisers. Please print out the document below, save to email out, or pick up a few sponsorship letters at practice to bring to your friends, family, and favorite businesses.

  • We are not doing other fundraisers this season - hosting swim meets and sponsorships work the best, so please invite as many entities as possible to support our team. 

 

Spirit Wear

  • Pelican Spirit Wear is in! I will have your gear at practices this week. Some of the items were out of stock and are missing from your orders - we will get these re-ordered and to you asap.

  • Something didn’t fit quite right and you need a different size? Shoot me an email, bring me the items, and order a new size: https://forms.gle/3Ac9jzmHUYS2BPAj8

    • In notes/cost, please make a note that this is a replacement size and you will not be charged again

  • See something you like and want to order a sweatshirt, towel, shirt or pants? Spirit Wear Round 2 open for a week! Deadline, Friday, January 10, 2025

 

USA Swimming Membership Registration

  • If you haven’t already, please make sure your USA Swimming registration has been renewed for the 2025 year. We need this asap in order for your swimmers to be eligible for all the January meets. 

 

Officials Training

Our home meet on January 26th is a prime opportunity to begin apprentice training for officials.

To be ready to apprentice, you will need to do the following:

  1. Make an account on USA Swimming 

  • you will already have one if your swimmer has been registered here before

  • You will just need to add yourself as a member

  1. Go in the education section of the usaswimming.org website and complete the following:

  • Background Check 

  • Athlete Protection Course

  • Concussion Training

  • Foundations of Officiating and Stroke and Turn Certification Course

  1. Register as non-athlete/Official 

  • Email Coach Erica for the team specific link

  1. Once these are completed, our LSC Officials Representative, Rob Clevenger, will receive an email notification and send you the apprenticeship forms.
