Copper Group Times and Swim Meets
Hello Copper Pelicans!
Copper Group Assignments
Copper sessions are 30 minutes each, scheduled for 9:00, 9:30, or 10:00 am. Adjustments to these times may occur during the first week or two of practice.
If you did not receive an assignment email, please reach out to Coach Erica.
Swim Meets
Our first swim meet is scheduled for June 7th at Shepherd University, with warm-ups beginning at 3:00 pm.
This home meet is coming up quickly, just a week into our summer practices! If your family is able to attend, please indicate your participation as a "yes" on the
Meets & Events Page. This will be a great introduction to competitive swimming and an opportunity to build enthusiasm for skill development during practices.
By Thursday, June 5th, our coaches will confirm which Copper swimmers are ready to participate in the June 7th meet.
At MASSL Summer Swim meets, swimmers aged 8 and under will compete in 25-yard races (one length of the pool). Swimmers aged 9 and older should be able to comfortably swim 50-yard races (two lengths of the pool). Our coaches will select the events for the swimmers, typically starting with a freestyle race and a relay.
Even if your swimmer isn't quite ready to race in this first meet, we still encourage you to come by and experience a swim meet firsthand. It's a chance for them to see what it's like, say hello to coaches and friends, and perhaps even support our concession stand.
Gear
The most important gear for a Copper swimmer is good goggles. I recommend
TYR Swimples or
Speedo Junior Vanquishers. You can grab a pair or two on Amazon or at our EPSC Team Store on Swimoutlet.com. Anyone with hair longer than their eyebrows need a cap (
there are some super cute ones out there!). Lastly, they need a good suit that stays on snuggly.
We are looking forward to a great summer season - see you June 3!
