Spirit Night at King’s Pizza – Tuesday, September 23

Meet Our New Team Administrator – Mercedes Ludlow
We are excited to welcome Mercedes Ludlow as our new Team Administrator. Mercedes will be taking over parent committee organization, billing and registration, and other administrative duties. You’ll be hearing from her soon as she helps streamline communication and keep things running smoothly.

2026 USA Swimming Membership Required
All swimmers, except those in Copper group, must have their 2026 USA Swimming membership completed. Swimmers without current membership will not be allowed to practice beginning Monday.

Season Opener Meet – Saturday, September 27
The Sept 27 Season Opener Home Meet will look a little different than originally planned. The visiting team we invited had conflicting commitments and had to withdraw. Instead of canceling, we’re turning it into something fun for our swimmers: a Blue vs. Orange Intra-squad Meet!
Here’s what that means:

Our team will be split into two squads—Blue and Orange—who will race head-to-head.

Swimmers will compete not only for official USA Swimming times (yes, all swims still count!) but also for team pride.

To add some extra fun, squads will try to collect the most rubber duckies throughout the meet. The winning squad earns bragging rights until next time.

Families and friends are encouraged to come cheer—this is a great first meet to watch your swimmer in action.

Meet information, team assignments, and event details will be shared next week.
Volunteers Needed
There are still volunteer slots open—please help us fill them so the meet runs smoothly.
Special Note for Officials
Because this is being run as a Block Party Meet, we are able to welcome officials who are certified through Summer League, High School, and similar programs—not just USA Swimming officials. To participate, you will need to:

Complete the USA Swimming Athlete Protection Training,

Pass a background check, and
-
Register as a Non-Athlete with USA Swimming.
This is a great way for more parents to get involved and help support our swimmers.
Practice Reminders
Swimmers should join stretch and chat 15 minutes before practice.
Please do not arrive earlier than that. Our pool rental includes practice time plus only 15 minutes before and after.
Swimmers age 12 and under must be supervised by an adult until they are with their coaches.
Fitter & Faster Swim Camp – November 1 & 2
Fitter & Faster is coming to our pool to host a two-day camp for swimmers ages 10 and older. Olympian Angel Martinez Gomez will lead the sessions, focusing on breaststroke and butterfly racing skills.

Team Activity – Fall Fun at Sibert’s Farm
Join us for a fun fall evening at Sibert’s Farm on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 5:00–10:00 PM. Admission is $8 per person (cash at the gate). The address is 4919 Shepherdstown Road, Martinsburg, WV 25404.
The evening will feature a corn maze, hayrides, food truck, fire pit, and a big-screen movie. Families are encouraged to bring camp chairs to sit around the fire pit while watching the movie. Pumpkins and mums will also be available for purchase.
